Today I experienced pure, heavenly joy. For our Touring Tuesday event, several of us went to The Dalles for a walking meditation at the labyrinth and lunch at a tea room, and I was able to do some much needed reflection in a quiet space. The last few weeks have been crazy. Our church has been faced with the deaths of two parishioners, graduations, changes & transitions in living arrangements, the restart of ministries, and the excitement of Pentecost. It's been hard to find time to breathe and reflect when life is happening. But today as I walked around the corners of the labyrinth, I thought about how it is all these interconnections, these joys and sorrows, that allow us to be the ekklesia--the people of God. And that sometimes, even when these interconnections feel abit tangled, we can still catch our breath, enjoy an afternoon walk, some cammomile tea and scones, and laugh as we literally smell the roses.

AuthorI have great hope for the future. While I don't know what the church will look like, or have all the answers, I know we'll find a way. Archives
